A long-standing industrial partnership
The relationship between Bull and NEC has been in place for many years. Significant milestones in the relationship included two-way exchanges of technologies in the 80's and 90's for mainframe systems. More recently, the relationship has focused on servers, storage sub-systems and security.
An OEM and collaboration agreement for servers in Windows & Linux environments
An OEM and collaboration agreement for a range of servers leveraging x86 processors was put in place in 1997.
NEC and Bull launched a joint initiative in the area of IT systems infrastructure, notably through the creation of a European Technology Center demonstrating joint technologies.
Partnering to deliver enterprise-class storage systems
Since 2001, NEC disk storage technologies have been marketed by Bull’s StoreWay storage business unit under the brand names FDA and Optima. An extensive technical co-operation programme ensures the full integration of NEC storage technologies within Bull mainframe and open server environments.
An industrial partnership targeting high-growth market segments
In 2005 Bull and NEC, wishing to develop their long-standing relationship, decided to strengthen their industrial partnership, expanding their collaboration into new solutions business opportunities in high-growth market segments.
